About Crimson Hero
Beniiro Hero (Crimson Hero) is an ongoing shojo/sports manga by mangaka Takanashi Mitsuba.
It tells the story of a 15-year-old tomboy named Sumiyoshi Nobara and her life centered on her biggest passion: volleyball.
Despite her mother's wanting her to take over the family's old-fashioned Japanese restaurant,
Sumiyoshi decides to follow her dreams by leaving her home and attending a school specialized in volleyball, Crimson Field High School.
But she has to face two problems. Firstly, she is alone and needs a place to stay:
she ends up at a dorm where four members of her school's boys volleyball team reside
(two of the boys include Kumagai Yuushin and Haibuki Keisuke),
and has to work as their dorm mother.
Secondly, her school has removed the girls' volleyball team due to a lack of interest:
after discovering this, Sumiyoshi, being her usual determined self, decides to form a new team.
We follow her adventures as she struggles in her search for teammates, and finds herself falling in love... for the first time.

What's in the name?
You might be wondering why I called this site
Fight for what you love.
If you've read the manga, you have surely noticed all that Sumiyoshi has to go through:
for volleyball, she has to fight for rights with her mother (who disapproves of her playing sports) and with her school (who removed the girls' volleyball team).
She also goes through rough times with her friends (for various reasons...). Therefore, I believe the title is quite fitting.
The webmiss's review (spoilers!)
Note: what you're about to read is my
spoiler-filled, detailed take on this manga...
so enjoy and read at your own risk!
To me, this manga is absolutely fantastic and different from any I've read before,
simply because the main character is very intent on following her dream.
I know she is a fictional character, but Sumiyoshi faces many difficulties (lacking money, not having a mother to support her...) and,
because she never gives up, she is a source of inspiration.
This manga is also a shojo, but I think it a good thing that Sumiyoshi doesn't fall completely head over heels for a guy... and when she does fall in love,
she knows how to control herself and the manga remains realistic (in other words, the guys don't become overprotective prince charmings
and Sumiyoshi doesn't blush and giggle, so her tomboy character is pleasantly preserved).
Volleyball seems to come first no matter what, which is as great as the way Takanashi Mitsuba portrays the characters' love for the sport
- especially on the court. I also quite like how real the characters seem, both mentally (each character's thoughts are expressed,
even secondary characters, so they all have feelings and backgrounds and
aren't simply used as objects to get the story flowing)
and physically (Sumiyoshi looks stronger the more she plays and... hair grows, which isn't the case in all mangas...).
Sumiyoshi's desire to improve and preserve friendship with her teammates
makes her shine with goodness, though she has her own faults:
I admire how human Takanashi Mitsuba has been able to make her characters.
She knows how to take time to weave a beautiful story and doesn't rush into impossibly fake twists and turns.
Her characters remain real all throughout the story, and their personalities develop brilliantly. As a footnote, the art is always a pleasure to look at.
